For this project, I had to opportunity to design a branded window cling to be displayed on the front doorway of the design department at CSULB. I and another student worked directly with the Director of Campus Planning and the Design Department Head to design the graphic. The graphic is made of an opaque and translucent window cling.

The next slides show the various stages of the design. Although we followed the general CSULB brand guidelines, my partner and I wanted to highlight the design department's focus on technology and inclusive student body.

This document was provided prior to designing. Tables and umbrellas were going to be added to the area. I acknowledged this while designing, making sure that content would not be blocked by these objects.

I referenced the CSULB brand guidelines to determine the typefaces, colors, and markings I could use in the graphic.

I began the project by surveying the site and seeing what the lighting would look like at different times of the day. Many students work in the building until dark so I went to the area at night when LED light would be shining from the inside. I felt that a translucent or partially transparent graphic would be more suitable for the window to allow for maximal lighting and help students feel safer.

A nearby outdoor work space was recently constructed. I referenced its design attributes in the final graphic to create a more cohesive department brand. For example, the yellow triangles in the background of the final graphic are inspired by the awning of the outdoor space.

The goal with this project was to assimilate into the CSULB family but stand out as the Design Department. I explored the surrounding area to find window clings, banners, and wall graphics which I drew inspiration from. I even looked at the more iconic spots at CSULB such as the "Go Beach" sign.

Final Version 1

After the final graphic was presented to the fabricators, they brought to our attention that there was a space in the lower right windows that wouldn't allow for a cling to be applied. My partner and I worked to move the white graphic upwards to avoid any graphic in that area.
